Quality Construction Features
We want you to know some important facts about a Kathcon-built estate home that make a true difference in the lasting value of your investment. While some builders choose not to disclose their building practices we feel it is important that you have all the necessary information as to what features are inside the walls, floors, and ceilings of your new home, beyond the attractive exteriors.
Kathcon specifies the following in every home:
- 2×6 wood studs for exterior walls
- Whole-house plywood wrap
- 5/8″ drywall for all walls and ceilings throughout, glued and screwed
- 3/4″ tongue and groove plywood sub-flooring on T.J.I. “silent floor” joist systems
Energy efficient insulation
- Brand name HVAC equipment and appliances
- 4″ concrete basement floor slab with fiber mesh reinforcing
- Structural steel support
- Continuous drainage tile: Inside and outside foundation
- R-38 attic insulation

Meet the Millers
Gregory Miller
Director of Development, Broker
In 1975 Greg earned a Finance degree from University of Illinois Urbana specializing in Real Estate and Urban Planning. Upon graduation, he successfully began brokering commercial and residential real estate in the Chicagoland market. After his first ten years, he moved from re-building into building. Now Greg is responsible for having developed over one hundred single and multi-family home sites and has constructed more than one hundred custom homes. In addition to many honors earned for excellence in building and developing, Greg is privileged by his peers by being elected president of the Custom Builders Council of the Greater Chicago Home Builder’s Association. Greg has sold over $200,000,000 in homes and commercial real estate.

Tom’s love for building started at age six, riding along with his dad and later cleaning and grading job sites. During college he kept his hands busy working in masonry and carpentry. Three years after graduating with a degree in Finance, he became a full-fledged partner with Kathcon and since has been cited for numerous outstanding sales performances including: 4 top-producer awards, the largest sale in company history, multiple million-dollar years and numerous gator hunter trophies. Recently, Tom has been instrumental in the disposition of non-performing assets, and repositioning Kathcon for today’s challenges. Now deeply involved with RECOUP, Tom is proving his financial expertise and innovative approach to problem solving.
